Pulling 12' center pivot with 3/4 ton truck?

Has anbody ever pulled a hydro swing 12' mower with a pick up? This one has a hitch that requires the tractor to have a clevis style hitch. I need to pull it about 70 miles. Is there any problems weight wise or concerning the hitch?Any Info would be appreciated. Thank's.

I just pulled it home today. I made a clevis style hitch out of 2" tubing and 3/8" strap iron and it worked out pretty good. Came home most of the way on back roads so traffic wasn't too bad of a problem. Dealer did say you could use a category 2-3 lift arm pin in the receiver hitch but that I found out after I had already made one.

Deere I had I used a cat 1/2 pin in my hitch and set the mower down on the pin, thin put a snap pin in the top.

How else are you going to do it? Keep in mind that just about all farm equipment is delivered to the dealer un-assembled in shipping crates, which is the only way it will fit on a truck. The dealer then assembles it, and after that the only way to transport is to just hook on and go down the road. Legal or not, there is no other way. I have pulled 14 ft. discs, 12 ft no till drills, and various other awkward implements behind my one ton. I would think that your 3/4 ton should be just fine pulling the hydro-swing. You might consider a pintle hitch on your truck, should work well with the hitch on the machine.

When we bought our 16' one they delivered it behind a pickup. He locked the tongue in transport mode and somehow bolted it to a 3/4 ton pickup and pulled it about 10 miles. However, Wyoming has some pretty will disserted back roads to travel on. He said he only met one car. If you have narrow or busy roads it could be a hassle.

I've pulled a 14' with my 1/2 ton. I don't reccomend doing this that long of a distance, we were renting this one from a local dealership when ours was busted. To hook on, Use a 1" bolt through your receiver hitch and tighten it down, and check it every few miles, atleast every 10, to make sure it's still tight. If it's still tight after 30, you should be good to go. It worked for us, and I'm sure many other farmers do it this way also.
