I have a 2-14 bottom allis chalmers plough. I broke a shear. This is the type that attaches by a j-bolt to an ear on the backside of the shear and one plough bolt at the rear of the shear.

Are you just telling us or did you plan to ask some questions? In my area we call it a "plow" and the cutting piece is called a "share".

rleroy:

In the UK, Australia (and probably anywhere else where the queen's English is spoken/written), the word is spelled "plough." Pronounced just the way you say it, but spelt differently. Kinda like the old "toe-MAY-toe, toe-MAH-toe" deal... Same thing, just different.

Now, instead of nit-picking orthography, let's think about what Mr Meyer likely wanted when he informed us of his misfortune with his A/C plow. Hmmm... I know, I bet he wants to know if anyone can tell him where he might procure a replacement. Any ideas?

I'd probably start with Shoup Parts (via the link below) -- I've never used them, but have heard quite a few folks on this site recommend them for repair parts. It's a starting point, anyway...

Also, ...

It's a good idea to be working on this sort of a project at this time of year, too, rahter than waiting until spring arrives and it's needed. I'm reminded of an old Russian saying: "Prepare your sleigh in the summer and your wagon in the winter." (And those rooskies know a thing or two about winter!)
