Can someone tell me how to get the bill hook shaft off my International shaft drive square baler? I hope I do not have to completely remove the knotter assembly to do this. Thanks, RKS

After you get the knotters swung up from the fixed position you take a drift and punch out the roll pin in the bill hook shaft pinion gear on the opposite end of the shaft and on the other side of the knotter head frame assembley. Then you can slide the shaft out of the knotter head frame, this shaft is part of the billhook. When you buy a new billhook you will see that it is a long shaft with the billhook on the end of it. Check to see if there are any shimes on the shaft and put them back on the same way.

Theirs bolts on each knotter 1/2 use 3/4 wrench their short stud bolts.ALso take the linckage loose that hooks the two together the knotters should swing up like a hinge then you can work on them.Clear as mud right!

Hey TomTx do you happen to have a manual on a 420 square baler??If so could you e-mail me the procedure for timing the needles on that beast??mine got out of time after the tension spring for the chain broke and broke the needle.I got it all back together just keed to get it retimed,Thanks,Lee.

It is a 420 Twine model if you have a book.I would greatly appreciate the info as I haven't been able to find it in any of my usual sources.
