IH Two Disk Plow for a Farmall A

Hello,

I just got my hands on an IH two disk plow. The disks are about 24 inches across and it has a steel wheel in the back with three weights inside. The wheel is steerable via a rod that goes to the front of the tractor. At the end of the rod is a 90 degree bend. Where would this rod connect to on my Farmall A? And what plow do I have. I can send pictures if needed. There is a picture of this plow being used in a book titled Farmall Letter Series Tractors. I believe the author is Guy Fay.

Ok,

Here are some pictures of the disk plow I have. I still need the attachement bracket that mounts to the bull gear housing. I may have found a steering rod.

the bracket you need is a piece of 1/2 x 2 1/2 flat stock about 10 inches long. it has a hole drilled in one end to fit over the top of the spindle and a hole in other end to fit the steering rod. on the spindle end it has a turned down piece with a u bolt that clamps it to the spindle. sold the one i had with the plow last spring. if you can get a pic of one it should be no problem to build one.

You will need an arm that goes on the top of the spindle to hook the steering rod in, if I remember it clamps on it. Does it have a manual lever for the lift or does it have a rod to hook to touch control hyd"s.

It has the handle to lift the plow. It is not for hydraulics. I bet I have a hard time finding one of those rods.

I don't know if the manual lift is the same number as the hyd or not. The hyd plow was for the Super A and was a A151. The A151 you take the draw bar off and a bracket bolts to the front side of the bull gear housing on each side, and the plow mounts there. There are some photos in the Implement Photos of a A151. As wh said in his post you could build a guide arm, his description is very good. Also does the plow have the scrapers on it they are very importion on adj. how the dirt is thrown. Jim

Yes the plow has a scaper on the front disk. The rear disk is missing the scraper. I should be able pattern one from the front scraper. It looks pretty simple to construct. I think I may have found the arm that I need to steer the plow with. I will post some pictures here when I get enough daylight to take a good picture. The disks are in really good shape.

I won't know about the plow, but if you can send pictures you can post them here. Click on "Help Identify" in the Galleries box at the left of this page, then find "Add Your Photo" and click on it. Follow the instructions and once your picture is up you can come back to this forum and tell people where to look. You can also make it show up here, but for now my fingers are tired.

PS I had an IH 2-disc plow behind a 350D many years ago. So long that I couldn't swear whether it was a pull type or Fasthitch.
