I purchased a 7 foot AC bush hog that is minus the gear box. Thought that it would be easy to find a replacement gear box but I keep running into dead ends. The bush hog is in excellent shape other than the lack of the gear box. Does anyone know of where to find one or if I could use another gear box from another brand.

Apparently the early gearboxes for rotary cutters were built in Italy. That meant a metric thread on the main shaft, I discovered last summer.

May I suggest a "Manufacyures Supply Co." SIL wore the gears out in his. Took it to Manufacture supply and while they could supply him with the gears, a whole new gear box was less money. If this appeals to you I can checkk his gearbox out for name and numbers and get back to you. He"s about four miles away. Or you could check a neighbor"s for a name and number if for nothing else specs and comparason.

Dale take the information you have on the unit to your local Agco dealer and he can fix you up. Oh, take your check book to the tab will be about 1200 + or -. Good luck
