Welp, we're gettin 'er today..schools closed, white out conditions , tons of accidents, cold and blowing..I have to get out to the farm and feed the cattle and then put in 4 or 5 hours doing maintenance work..then home to the couch in front of the wood stove..everybody be careful, storm sounds widespread through many northern States and Provinces...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Michael: I heeded your advice, never set foot outside the door yesterday. There has got to be a use for that snow here in Ontario. It certainly doesn't add moisture to the fields, as it all blows in the barnyard. Now I ask you what other crop all lands in the yard without use of a tractor or truck. This afternoon I can see the new 3" high wheat, corn and soybean stubble, but I got 4' of snow in the yard.

Michael,

I surely can sympathize with you. We had go to Iowa last week and +10 F (-12 C, I think) was a lot less than I was used to.

I lived in the Midwest for 40 years and thought temps like that were what the world is all about, but you do forget after 28 years, I guess.

Stan: Careful, your giving away your age. Now, I'm trying to convince my good better half that lack of snow would preserve our youth. Speaking from experience can you elaborate on that?

That theory about lack of snow preserving your age may be true. Unfortunately, the 40 years in the Midwest did their damage before I got down here.

Was putting up Christmas lights today, but had to quit...the heat was getting to me!
