I've just recently picked up a 4' deck, 3 point hitch Super Bee. Problem is it didn't come with a rear wheel, just a single strap bracket in the vertical position with adjustment holes. Any ideas how a wheel connects to the Super Bee?

Bill,

I don't know what kind of a deal you made on your Super Bee but adding a replacement trailing wheel asembly (wheel, other parts, labor, etc.)could prove more costly than the purcase of a complete unit.

I am not familiar with Super Bee rotary cutters and I have waited a couple of days for someone with specific information to come along. Looks like I am it.

I would start by looking at trailing wheel assemblies on new and used rotary cutters. Most are similiar and you can get some ideas. Carry along a drawing of your Super Bee with all the key dementions noted and a tape measure. I would also check used implement dealers and tractor salvage yards. They may have a used up unit that they will part out for you. This will save a lot if you can find someting that you can adapt or possibly bolt on. Realistically, you need to plan on some fabrication and possibly welding.

The segmented rubber tires and wheel assemblies are standard farm supply items. You are going to need to fabricate or purchase a yoke which is the A-frame that carries the fork and wheel. The yoke has a barrel which mates with the fork (like a bicycle front wheel). The yoke barrel and fork are not the kind of thing you fabricate locally. Your choices are new or salvage.

Over the years, I have become a pretty good fabricator. It is amazing what you can do with a vise, drill press, Sawzall, skill saw with metal cutting blade, and belt sander with #36 grit belts. However, I have never learned to weld. I have learned that the best approach is to have everthing ready to weld so that when I go to the shop I pay for welding and not fabrication and set up.

In most agricultural areas there are welder/fabricators who service farm equipment. Ask around and a couple of names will come up. These guys will always give first preference to farmers with crops to plant and fields to harvest. In between, they like to have jobs like yours. When you get a name, put your Super Bee on a trailer and run it by. Find out what he can do for you. If you have any salvage parts to adapt bring them along. You will get some advice, an estimate, and maby a new friend.

Work safe! Have fun!
