I did a search, dont jump one me but I didnt find a lot of pros-cons. I want a 7foot haybine, I have small tight fields.

Is this a good haybine? I hear a lot about 488s. Condition of the 477 is what it is, it seems ok. No lift cylinder, flat tire some bad tin but I can weld now but the rollers seem really good and there is not play in the wobble. Seems like an oxymoron but anyway.

Is this in general a good runner?

I had one that was on its way out sheet-metal-wise when I got it (cheap). Wobble and rollers were good. I used it for 4 years on 40-50 acres a year before the rusted tin just started falling apart. Somebody actually bought it after I upgraded. It most likely by now has donated its viable parts to another tired machine. I wouldn"t be afraid of a 477 like you are looking at, provided the metal isn"t rusted to the point of no return like some of mine had been. $2000 will buy a nice one where I live, so a rusted one would be priced quite a bit down from that.

Its 1200$ canadian and I think that I will try to see it hooked up and spinning to be sure. Its winter here but I would feel better that way. The guy is toting something he calls a 'super knife' or some kind of special knife guard that was hard to get or an option. Hard to get makes hard to repair or replace too. Any ideas on this special knife deal?

Hi I have one in fine working order, but tin needs painted and some welding here an there. I paid 800.00 us for it. I have seen them for 1200 - 2000 US . The thing to watch is the cutting head and the rolls. Next the chains and spockets , than universels(SP) . They are to be one of the best 7 ' New Holland Made.

Punch, that is what I was hoping to hear, that it is known to be A-OK.

Thanks
