Hello guys. You've all got heaps more experince than me so I thought I'd ask before spending any money. I have an Allic Chalmers B with a 3 pt. hitch and I'd like to do a little cutting witha sickle bar next year. What do you feel is my best bet, a 3 pt. hook-up or a trailer-type, since the tractor's not all that heavy? What size (length) do you feel comfortable with? Thanks for the help.

My personel prefrence would be a side mount that

My prefrence would be a side mount first then a semi mount like old mentioned. Our side mount was a six foot cutter bar.

Never saw a 3 point on a B. Common mower was a 6 foot belly mount. Ahead of the back wheel.

They made a sickle mower just for the B it was I believe a 5 foot maybe 6 don't remember for sure. It bolted to the draw bar and had a stiily wheel on the back. The hyds cylinder would lift the bar. So I guess I'm saying a traiolr type would work better. I thnik a 3 point on a B is probably just more show then anything else because of how lite the front end is on those.

Hi again Old. The 3 pt. on this B certainly wouldn't be great for trying to lift and carry a heavy load, but it does seem to be great for hooking up the 3 pt. back blade that came with it and leveling the driveway. I'm planning on using it to keep the driveway cleared of snow this winter. I think that it'll be handy for some smaller implements, like middlebusters, single-bottom plows, etc.

They made a 1 bottom plow and a disc for the B plus the sickle bar mower. I had 2 or 3 of those with a B I had about 20 years ago. Nice little tractor but to small for much of what I do.
