Anybody ever run a JD 213 flex on a gleaner F2? I have a 1981 model and have a neighbor that will trade me a 213 for equal weight in Junk. It's still a good header, but it's just sitting there. My 15 foot flex for my F2 is kind of rough and I want to replace it anyways. The header height doesnt work so I wouldn't use it on the JD either. My question is what would I need to do to adapt it to my combine? And where could I find a bish adaptor? Is a bish adaptor all I would need? How hard would it be to build an adapter, or should I just buy one? What would one cost? Thanks.

I put a 216 on a M2 for a neighbor a couple years ago Building the adaptor wasn't hard. Just watch when you drive the combine up to the head like your going to put it on look close at the gap top & bottom I had to space the bottom several inches on that one or the gaurds would have been plowing

Bish adapter is around $900 new. If you"ve got the shop equipment, building one doesn"t look too hard to do. You need to put a self-contained hydraulic system on the 213 with flow controls to run the reel. If you have a 315 Gleaner flex, you already have that stuff, just move it to the Deere head. If it"s a series II Gleaner flex, you don"t have it.

How do I go about rigging one of those up on my F2?

The hydraulic drive pack came on the 300 series Gleaner heads from 1982-1987. 313 and 315 were made to fit the F2/F3. The pump and valve actually goes on the head and is driven off the header jackshaft. A solenoid control on the valve connects to a switch in the cab. (1982 F2 and all F3 had this switch). You can might be able to find a hydraulic drive pack in a salvage yard. Bish makes new hydraulic drive packs, too. However, a new adapter and a new hydraulic drive pack would cost about the same as a whole Gleaner 313 or 315 flex that would fit right on your combine (except for the electric header height control). I have considered doing a conversion for my K2, since Gleaner never made a true flex head for the K series, only floating bars. Cost is prohibitive for me, as a nice JD 213 head will come close to $3500, not including the drive pack and adapter.

I do not know alot about Gleaners I have a NH TR70 I bought last year from the first owners they put a JD 215 flex head on it about five years ago using a bish adaptor works great the NH was'nt equiped with a hyd reel so they had to add a self contained hyd unit to the back of the head it has electric flow control valve for reel speed controlled from the cab the height control works great with the NH height contols on the combine if the Gleaner head has a hyd reel that would be a plus and cheaper I have ran several combines I think you will really like a JD flex head easy to work on aftermarket parts are in great supply Kip
