The big red one.

Who made it, what's special about it, and when was it made?

Enjoy!

Well, now, I 'bleeve that that just might be a late series Caterpiller (Holt-Best), 'specially looking at the engine. Mid '20's. I bet the tank isn't original.

You are correct!

1922 Holt-Caterpiller Self-Propelled Combine. Shipped into Colby, KS in 22 and used for a few years north of a small town called McDonald.

To our knowledge, there are only 3 of these left in the country, and this is the only one that will move and cut wheat under its own power.

I believe that combine blonged to a man by the name of Louis Anhtolz.
He lived about 3 miles north of where I was born.
I think that combine (or one like it) is shown at the Tri-state antique engine & thresher assn, Inc. in Bird City, Ks.
I have an old photo of the combine, only the information on the back states that the picture was taken in 1910.? Thanks David W.Copper
