Are there any manufacturers out there who will custom make drive belts for combines that are unavaliable and out of production? If not how can you get those hard to find belts in usable condition? I'm sure this is a problem most older combine users have encountered.

It probably is a standard belt.(I'm assuming V). Remeasure its legnth and width. It probably stretched some. Most equipment is a little forgiving and you may be able to use the next size down or up. An inch longer is only 1/2 inch movement.

I've worked as a machinist and also farmed most of my life. My theory about farm machinery is that manufacturers use industry standard items as much as possible to save money. They adapt their products to use off the shelf bearings and V belts as much as possible. So if it's a V belt you need, you'll probably find it at McMaster Carr or JDV without a problem.

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic by trade so I've never really messed with any combines to know what, if anything makes the belt so special. I do know from the years I spent doing industrial maintenance work in that there are places out there that can make just about any type of belt you need. Try Thomas Registers online site and do a search for belting suppliers/manufacturers. I did a search on there and it returned alot of different ones. Here's a link to that search page. If it doesn't work for some reason go to Thomasregister.com and simply do the search again. Good luck.
