A friend of mine has a "messanger" Ideal #22 thrashing machine. It came along with the property he purchased. It is in fair/restorable shape. Some of the paint is good and this is where we came up with the Manufacturer name and model #. It says it was made in Tatamy, Pa. I have no further info on it, but could provide pictures. Is there a board based on antique farm implement restoration that I could post this on?

There is mention of the "S.S. Messinger and Son" company in Tatamy, PA, in "The Encyclopedia of American Farm Implements and Antiques" by C. H. Wendel. It says the company was offering "an extensive line of farm equipment by 1885". It doesn't provide any information that would be useful for a restoration project, however.

If you can't find any information online, you could ask for advice from some of the thresher men at any of the antique farm equipment shows in your area.
