Hi guys! this is my first post on this board ever, but I've been "lurking" around here for the past month or so. I'm 20 and live on a 200 cow dairy near Binghamton New York. Anyways, I bought a squarebacked John Deere 45 with a 235 corn head and open station about a year ago. The machine worked on my test run this fall (about an acre of corn, thats all I could convince my dad he didn't need for silage). Getting whacked in the face by corn tassels has led me to searching for a cab. My question for all of you is how hard is it to put a cab on one of these machines, I assume I'd need to find one off a junker and transplant it, but whats involved? Additionally, I'd like to know how hard it is to find a 10' grain platform for one of these machines as we raise about 60 acres of oats for bedding that my dad said I could combine before we bale the straw.

Never run one in corn but I have a 55 with no cab that I run over 30 acres of beans every year. I just wear a respirator and a face shield.

Judman,
There should be 8' and 10' platforms around but make sure they are for a 45. You need to measure the width of your throat and remember it . The throat width on 55's, 95's, and 105's are different and will not fit an 45. Have fun !

Their are allot of 45 combines around. A cab is not hard to put on one. I'm not 100% sure, but i think a cab from a 55, 95 or 105 will fit on a 45.

thanks for the reply I know of a crippled 55 with a cab I like that I think the owner would be willing to part with. Thanks again, Jud

judman, i helped my wife's uncle put a cab on a 45 a few years back. it came off of a 45. we took the protective rails off of his machine and put the cab on..if memory serves me correctly we didn't even have to drill any holes.jdguy
