I have a john deere 4420 combine and I AM looking for a second one. I am very happy with it. A friend offered me a 4425 combine at a very good price. The machine is in excellent condition and has had a good home. I am concerned about availabe part and etc. I believe these were german made.

The 4420 is the best machine, the 4435 has been improved and is better than the 4425 as far as power. The one thing that is nice is the 4435 can be bought with a hydro. I believe this was a mistake not having a hydro on the 4420.

I bought a 4420 this past summer and have used it for the summer and fall harvests when I was looking for a machine i looked at the 4420, 4425, and 4435 models one farmer had a 4420 that he was selling because he had 2 4435 and didnt need the older machine he told me that on parts for the german models they seemed to be redily available through deere but were very expensive compared to the us model (he noted that a set of cylynder bars cost right around 800 dollars compared to 400 for the 4420) If i were going to buy another machine I would definently go with another 4420 it is the best combine i have ever ran and seems to be very reliable and plenty of power if you clean air filter regurlay here in west central MO there is an abundance of 4420 and salvage parts are highly available pluss many 4400 parts are identical hope I helped you out email me and I can tell you were there are at least 3 for sale

My brother in law has one. There are a few problems:
1 under powered - had to turn up pump to get enough power 2 Now it burns a lot of fuel 3 parts are very expensive as they mostly have to come from europe dealers don't stock parts for them. I am looking for a combine myself and he told me to steer clear of them Hope this helps
