I recently bought a JD 95 combine in very good shape. Friends and neighbors immediately began to question my wisdom. What do you want with something so old? You'll regret buyin' that old thing. Are you crazy? Man you should have got a good 4400.
Well anyway their opinions can't discourage me. But I was wondering----
HOW MANY 95'S ARE STILL BEING USED OUT THERE?
I'll admit, after looking around, I think I have the market cornered here in my area of Louisiana.
Any of y'all using one?

I live in west-central Wisconsin and help my dad and brother farm. We have everything from milk to maple syrup. We have a 95 corn special and have used it for small grain, but mainly use it in soybeans. It does a good job, but we need a flex head for beans and hopefully will have one by next year. We also have a 105 C.S. and use that for all of our corn, about 130 acres per year. Works great, but does lose more corn on the sidehills than a 7700. We also have 3 45's, am using 2 of those yet for swathed oats. The one that blew a rod a few years ago belonged to my grandfather and was bought new in 1957 by him.

I own a 95 and it's the preferred machine around our place here in South-Central Kansas. We have a 4400 also, but the 95 runs cooler and does just as good a job on less fuel with considerably less breakdown. I do have a need for a new rock guard and am having a difficult time finding one. Any one know of a good parts source? If not, I'll have to make one.

Yes I own and use a 95 combine for just a few acres that I have to do. It does give the neighbours something to talk about at the coffee shop same as when I get the 12A out to work also. I am trying to find a straw chopper and proper sprockets for the cylinder drive to let me do soys next fall. My Dad and I bought this machine at a friends auction sale a year ago. He bought it when it was 2 years old and did about 40 acres of spring cereals a year. I bought it because it was green and old and because of its good shape. Its fun to use for me and a real change from fixing 4400s on through to9650s. One thing that I smile about is where the engine sits on a 95 (or 55 or105) then look at a 7720. Now look at a9510. Makes you think eh? (thats a bit of Canadian for you south folks) Do you suppose Skour-Kleens will make a comeback? How big would they have to be? Good to hear about others with 95s. I live and work in south western Ontario Canada

I don't own a 95 but I do own and use a 55 with diesel engine and hydraulic drive and I also use a 105 diesel and hydraulic drive. Both these machines do a good job, same as the new stuff, but just a little more crude. No AC, no CD player, etc.

If you compare specs on a 95 to a 4400 you will find the same size cylinder and same # of straw walkers. A 95 is the same size combine only a older version. I have one and it does a very good job.
