We are having problems with our combine. We don,t have the right book for a machine with a s/n of 79444, we have a newer book but this it the problem: Down by the fan by the pitman arm that has the pulley end on the pitman shaft we are loosin a lot of corn on both sides where the arm goes through. Wondering what if anything can be done to fix this? There looks like a sieve adjustment rod is to be in there but none on the machine. Does this need to be in there? Thanks Marlin

I have been plagued by this problem with my 105 off and on. I have taken the chaffer out and looked and looked for the problem. It worked really good this fall with no lose that I noticed, except for the last day, I did notice a streak of corn on the ground on the right side. When I finished combining that day, I cleaned the combine off with air and then I noticed that the front right corner of the chaffer was clogged with crap, way up front. So there was my problem, just look in there several times during the day and keep both corners clean. I did try putting foam rubber in there and it did help.

We have a 95 and 105 and they both do this. Some of the grain gets sucked back in by the fan. I have tried stuffing newspaper, plastic bags etc in there, but it always worked itself out. I have heard of a few others on here that have had the same problem. One person recommended putting some expandable foam in there. I thought bout spraying some of that expandable insulation that comes in a can into those spots, have not tried it yet. I work at a can factory and obtained some thin metal that they make cans out of. I cut and made a trough and duck taped it so that the corn falls on it and is directed back into the fan. The left side was a bit difficult to get in though. I really don't know why it comes out. We have enough side hills and lose much more from being on a side hill, rather than from where the crankshaft is. It is frustrating though. Hopefully someone else will have an answer. Mark

Try crawling up in the back of the combine, and cleaning all of the dirt, chaff and built up residue off the front of the chaffer. This is where the grain conveyor chain drops the material on the front of the chaffer. Clean the dirt out from the little fingers at this point also. There is a small canvas that ties the fan housing to the shoe, that mice love the taste of, but if the dirt is kept off the front of the chaffer, it usually doesn't leak grain.
