How do I stop from getting pods in the hopper, it's for a 7700 John Deer.Everything seems to be running properly.

Joe, I have had the same problem this year. I run a 6600. I have noticed the problem is worse this year in some varieties than others. The best results I got was by running the concave spacing very tight and the cylinder speed at 480 to 500 rpm. It also helps to run a faster ground speed. Keeping the machine full seems to be especially important in this year's beans. I got my machine threshing well enough to avoid any discounts at the elevator, but I still had more unthreshed pods than I like to see.

_This_ year, how could a person run fast enough to keep the combine full????? Lousy beans.... Grumble grumble grumble.....

At least the corn is trying to make up for it, record yields for me. But those were the worst beans I ever had.

A little more info would have been helpful, like what your bean conditions are - dry, wet, uneven, rain, early frost, what? Sometimes the beans are so uneven, it's just difficult to get it right.

In general, narrow the cylinder clearance. If you start cracking some, slow the cylinder. This assumes you mean you have whole, unthrashed, pods in the tank.

As the other post said, if you are getting pod bits in the tank, you need to speed up the fan & play with the sieve settings.

First thing you need to figure out if you have a threshing problem, or a cleaning problem. if the pods are not threshed, it needs to start with the cylinder and concave.
