Last year I bought a 303 combine.Bought it right out of the field while it was working.I didn't have time to go over it then so now that it's time to use it,some questions. The 6 cylinder gas engine is supposed to be 60hp.Would this be the same motor that the 560 had in it? Also, the the "150 years of IH" book says they were discontinued in 1967.I thought the 615 replaced it. The model # is 303C(the C may stand for cab). The serial # is 11400.Where could I find out what year this machine was made? One more thing.I'm going to harvest 3 acres of sunflowers with this combine. What am I getting myself into? Thanks for any help. AJ

303 IH #11400 would be a 1966 model.Should have a C-221 gas engine in it which is the same as the 460 tractor. The 615 replaced the 303 and it had the 560 gas engine.Cant help you any on the sunflowers.Good luck.

..... ...the 315 replaced the 303 in the dealers' catalog for a couple of years. It was an outgrowth of the saddle tank canadian combines(91's, 203's,ect.). Was always considered a lemon, and the high muckety mucks at IH wised up about 1970 and updated the 303 as the 615.

The 303 I thought had the same engine as the 706, don't matter really but I have three 303s I would be willing to sell. One is a complete unit with a Pick-up head, and the other two are parts units. All three for one price. There is a reel head but may need some work sinced we never used it.

I am looking for more info on IH combine
303C. I found the engine to be fairly reasonable to rebuild from a regular
parts place - IH parts are more
expensive from the dealer-
do you need any special things
changed inside to use the corn
head-
I only have the grain head on it
Can you feed ear corn in there
from the top and shell it out?
Or is there something you have to do to do this?

>>>>I would like the guy who has
three of them to give me an email at lexziej@peoplepc.com and let me know where
you are located - I am in Lower Michigan
