Where is a good spot for the bat boards to be hitting the wheat. Right now I have it set for the middle or would down be better?

Depends on the wheat. If you hit it too low, the wheat will wrap and ride over and back down. It is good practice in wheat to set your header so that the wheat will hit about halfway up the auger; don't work too much straw, you only enough so it'll feed. I like to have the bats hit right at the head, so that the cut grain just lays over in the header. If the grain is down and tangled you have to set it lower so the reel will pull in the material.
