The gas engine was 202 cu in. 64 horsepower. The diesel engine was 219 cu. in. Same horsepower rating. These engines were also used in the JD utility tractors of that era. I think they may have had a horsepower boost to 70 horse some time during the manufacturing run for the 3300.

The 3300 gas used a 292 Chevy straight 6, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure about the diesel. Might have been a 329 Deere. Would have been same engine as in 4030 diesel tractor. This engine is very susceptible to cylinder wall cavitation. Neighbor had a 4030, overhauled twice in 3000 hours because of cavitation, then put coolant conditioner in, been ok since. If you look at a diesel 3300 or a 4400, for that matter, check the radiator for oil floating in it. If you find oil in there, it can mean that cavitation has happened.

The 4400 used the 292 Chevrolet gas engine and the 329 JD diesel. The 329 JD engine is also used in the 4030 tractor. I have owned 2 6600's with the 329 and still own a 4030. Never had any cavitation problems with any of them. But, as in most wet sleeve engines, you must keep good, clean, fresh antifreeze in them and coolant conditioner also.

I know of in this area 2 4400s, 1 6600, and 2 4030s, as well as a 4420, that all had engines with cavitation problems.
