Looked at a 303 today that will be used to harvest 20 acres of oats.Has 10' hume reel,cab,6 cyl. gas engine.Always under roof.Usual surface rust and no dents.Used on area dairy farms from new to just last year.Did not hear running yet but am sure it will run fine. What will be fair price to ask here in s.w. Penna? What are their weak points and strong points? Machine is only 20 miles from my farm.Could it be trammed? No hauling cost would be first +. Thanks for any help and comments. A.J.

For traffic, I had my dad follow me in his truck with a walkie talkie. That way he could tell me if there was traffic passing or something/

Driving the combine to your place isn't a problem. Just make sure your transmission and final drives have oil. You'll want to change them right when you get back, because most of the time they're pretty ugly. On distance, I've driven my John Deere 95 Corn Special 30 miles to a show. (yes, a combine that attends shows)

Good advice, Johnny. It won't hurt at all to road a combine short distances. The greatest danger is not wear on the finals or tranny if properly maintained, but unfortunately, other traffic. i caution everyone to be wary on the road whether it's a 95 or 9550! I'm still glad to see you have the old 95 to take to shows. I'm always glad to see older combines of any kind, at the shows. Perhaps more interest will be generated in saving them.

Amen. More folks should save the old combines.

If you have ever gone from gunny sack and shucking peg, to a corn picker and scoop shovel, to running a 303 in the corn you understand what a great thing they were.

They are not the space shuttle but in my little world they were really neat. Even if they were a little tall for the shed....
