Here are some pictures taken in Brazil on 1-28-2002 of soybean harvest down there. They are courtesy of J.D. and Chub off The Red Power forum. There are 31 combines in a row. They have lots of huge 25,000 to 100,000 acre farms down there. No wonder grain prices are so cheap here.Notice they are no till planting right behind the combines.I'm sure this is a staged photo but I'll bet its still all owned by one farm.

I remember in 1965 getting about the same price for soybeans as they get now.

Its your tax dollars at work. The interior of Brazil has only recently been opened up thanks to a US financed (thru theU.N.) program that includes several thousand miles of modern, electrified railroad, roadways, electric utilities, low (no interest) loans to South American ag producers (many are subsidieries of US conglomerates, UN built grain handling and storage, ect..

Combine all that with cheaper fuel, fertilizer, fewer chemical/environmental regulations, and NAFTA type programs for South America, and we had all just as well get mad and quit.
