Finally got those pictures back of the old case combine. Not as nice as caseman and 1206 hauled home, but up north here i think we kind of live in the rust belt. Machine is missing some pieces and engine seems stuck good because of the open exhaust.

Hey c.hess, i didn't realize they came with the holes in figured they got drilled in later, learn something new every day.

When i took the combine pictures i was in a hurry and didn't even bother to climb up in the seat, its the first SP-12 i have ever been up to, only realized now looking at the pictures is how in the heck do you see the unloading auger when its on the opposite side of the driver? Must have been designed a half hour before lunch time. LOL. Also i think its the only combine i know that has the engine length wise instead of cross wise. Was this the first self propelled case combine? I am kind of intrigued by the old beast, have not talked to the land owner what he would want for it or how i would get it home.

Iwas cultivating corn when ours arived so my older brother got to (break)itauger in. On first round of barley he hit electric pole with it! Only pulled it off -no damage. When i got bigger did same thing. Needless to say it was out of sight if you forgot to lean forward.I think sp9 an sp12 were first self propelled made by Case. As for engine mount as you know by now it had variable speed with vac modified trans under it.It had full floating axles even.Weighed 7500 lb an cost 5500 or so bucks in 1955. Used ours untill about i970.About only problem was with sicle. Would bend guards an break at pitman next to knife ocasionally.

You might be suprised as all Case tractors had holes in exhaust for draining water up to an including 830-an 930.

The serial number is SP125476750, this was off the tag in the upper left corner of the rear of the combine, i didn't get engine number, probably heading back up in the area it sits this weekend to go to my cousins graduation reception i will swing over and see what the engine number is and if the rattle chain is still in it. Radiator is gone and a few other ports, i might crack open the drain plug just to see how much water is in it, didn't look if the manifold had holes drilled in or not. My uncle has run a SC case on his farm since it was new and i don't think he ever had a cap on the exhaust but he has holes drilled in the lower exhaust manifold bends.

I was curious as to what years these combines were made, i am guessing late 40's to early 50's being it has the d case engine in.

I would like to find a good d engine for my dads old d, that i have, it was the first tractor i drove when i was a kid. Dad use to pull it behind his 900 for more horsepower. Engine is stuck in it now.

Heres a few more of the combine and a few of the d case of dads.

Like the pictures of the DC and the 930 tied together. Duals look good on the DC. Have heard of many people tieing two tractors together but never actually seen one.
If the engine is free in the old combine that may be an easy switch. I put a combine engine in one of mine. You have to change crank pulley, flywheel and make sure the frank valve is in the crank for oiling the clutch.

Glad you got some pictures of the the SP-12. Shame about the exhaust being left open. Did you happen to get the serial number off it? I haven't been able to get to the other one yet. We finally got some moisture here so it's to wet to try to get it. We had about a foot of snow on top of 2 3/4" of rain, couple days later we got another 2". So waiting on some sunshine with no wind. Will let you all know once I get it home.
