I'm trying to get some reprints of the Op manuals from AGCO for my Gleaner F Corn/Soy bine. They got the one for the combine it looks like but they need a serial number for the head. Haven't bought a head yet but would like a manual just to read up on it before it's time to set it up for harvest. Anyone out there got a corn head that would fit on an F that you could post the serial for so I can get the manual ordered? My F combine is a 1975 if that makes a difference. Thanks

Ever try ebay for manuals? You might be able to find a used one for a buck or so, them you could still read up but not be out much.

Just picked up 2 manuals today...Just not for the Gleaner. One is for my No 36 McCormick Harvester and the other is for my No 60 McCormick Bean Planter.

Sounds like you are doing it bass ackwards. There are orange heads and black heads for the combine. Totally different animals. Orange heads are older, circa 1970. Black heads A series, are later. Either will fit an F, but technology is different on each. Buy the head, then buy the manual. There are serial number splits within corn head production. I have a 430 head on an F2 that is the exact number of the split of the orange heads, but dealer says AC did not always change all parts on the SN split.

Darn... was hoping that they where pretty much the same so I could get a leg up on how they work. Any recommendations on what is preferable in the 4-30 heads?

Thanks

Black head, ie the A430, is newer and simpler. Can be adjusted two inches wider or narrower if needed. No gearboxes, everything is shaft and chain driven. More adjustments in the stripping mechanism. Sheet metal over the row units is hinged, easy to access row units. Both have grass knives available. If you find an A430 from another machine, like an M, etc., you need the correct mounting package for the F. Much better to find one already set up. Head from a F2 will mount right up.
