As promised in the post below here are some pictures I took Sat morning. These are all on one farm in western OK.Scott Carter that posts on here had found them and drove us 20 miles over to see them. Thanks Scott.

There are at least 5-6 old 123 and 125 McCormick SP combines here.A couple had been converted from dual rear wheels to single rear wheels which is something that I had never seen before.

Working in the drilling business Scott gets over alot of western OK and says theres tons of old combines sitting off the beaten path.We still saw quite a few along the major hiways.

Wish I had that Allis Field Chopper. They were rare to start with but really worked.

Whats with the jog in the clean air intake on those 123's? Is that a conversion for the low bin auger style? Looks like that one has an old airplane rim/tire on the back. Thanks for all the great pics..

Here's the story, at least the way it was told to me from my dad who purchased a 123/125 as his first combine when they quit using threshing machines. The 123 had a hopper with a door that you opened to let the grain out the side of the bottom. When the grain carts and K5 trucks got too tall for it to gravity flow, IH came out with the 125 SP which had an unloading auger and a slighty larger hopper. The air chute was modified to accomodate the larger hopper. 123's were field modified to update them. I still have Dad's old combine in the trees and after about 40 years of red oak aging you can see the 123 SP sticker under the 125 SP sticker.

Looks like quite a "graveyard"!! Two advantages of treasure hunting in the west is lack of rainfall and distance from steel mills. Here in the east, copious amounts of rain (and acidic rain at that) soon turn abadoned machinery into rusted out hulks or else they quietly disappear into a blast furnace. Despite all the hard work of loading the old Case and dealing w/ high fuel costs, it looks like you had a very enjoyable weekend away. Thanks, Blaine, for sharing your pictures.
