Would be kind of cool to get the old Case 1660 and the new CaseIH 1660 and park them side by side. Slight size difference I would think.

So what is the difference between a 1660 and a 1665. I don't think I've ever seen either one. Powered by a 318 Chrysler by any chance? I have the remains of a 960 (burnt) and a 600 (parked when still working), engine now seized, both are free for the taking: in SW Manitoba.

The 1660 and 1665 were both built at the same time. Both are shown in the same sales catalog which I have. They were avaiable with the 318 Chrysler V-8 or 354 Perkins Diesel. They were a big combine at 52" wide.

The 1665 was advertised as a Corn Special. It had a high speed variable speed fan with a special corn seive. It says it has a heavy duty transmission and axle assembly.Sturdy covers protected the straw walkers from cobs and special deflectors kept the cobs from the cleaning section. The 1665 wheel base is 3" longer than the 1660.

good job on the photo's you are right on all except that the 1665 was made only 1969 and after 1660's were 1966-1970,or 71 does any one have a Case combine that is by serial # a 71 or 72 just wondering?? as I have a 402 corn head that is a 1972 also the 1665 has a axle like the 600-660-960 had this was to allow for 30" rims and more stability

The 1660 was a great combine in its day,I can remember my Dad setting the machine in the yard and we would go to the field and start threshing, with only minor adjustments.Man he knew his threshers. He was a Thresherman. We are losing so many of those guys that came home from being over in Europe for 4 years during WW2 and just went to work.
