Here are some scenic pictures from Former Farmer on Redpower. They are of a Super 92 Massey combining near Coeur d 'Alene,Idaho.

The bottom picture is overlooking Lewiston,Idaho where the Snake and another river come together.I stood in almost this same spot taking pictures in July 2001 and its a fantastic view.Dont miss it if you ever get out that way.

I am across the border in Spokane Washington from Coeur d 'Alene Idaho. Its nice country up here good place to raise a family and the whole area has a rich AG tradition. Though like most places its being sold and turned into subdivisions.

1206SWMO is that Lewistion picture taken from the top of the hill before you go down the grade? I have a picture of my grandparents on the grade in 1924! Grandpa has grandma is his arm and the other arm is resting on his model T!

Brian, I'm sure that picture was taken just north of Lewiston on top of the grade.I took pictures there in July 2001.The old road took 10 miles to get there while the new one takes only 3 miles. Its a fantastic view.

It would be interesting to see the 1924 picture of your grandparents.

What great pictures. I have always wanted a Super 92, as I think they are the neatest, most streamlined looking combines ever built. How would they compare with a square back JD 95 for capacity?

Hey Tom -

I agree, I like the way they look - maybe because that's the first combine I remember Dad driving growing up... I've wanted one, too...

But just the other night, Dad said something about wished he'd never traded the Gleaner off!! He said that Massey Harris was nowhere near the machine the Gleaner he had before he bought the MH...

This was all back in the 60's...

I was surprised, but not sure which model he had before...

The flat cover above the operator is interesting.
Looks like it is adjustable up and down. Possibly it is lowered to protect the grain tank from rain (or snow!) when it"s parked in the field. Doesn"t appear to be of any use to protect the operator from the sun since it"s up so high. These type of covers seem to appear on combines used in that Palouse country.

The river joining the Snake here is the Lochsa I believe. Was through there in 1988 on vacation.

Actually, the river that joins the Snake River in Lewiston, ID is the Clearwater River. The Lochsa joins the Clearwater further east.
