While searching for old combine pictures I found this nice picture of a Chevy grain truck in Kansas.

The sign says Skyline-Mill Creek Scenic Drive so this picture was taken in the Alma-Alta Vista,Kansas area. One of these days I'm going to take that drive myself.

Here is a link to some pictures from that area.

Thanks for the good press from a lifetime flatlander, Blaine. I like to joke about Kansas, but i wouldn't live anywhere else when it comes right down to it. There are still many small single axle trucks hauling to the elevator at Durham where dad farms. I'm gonna get his 66 ford at the end of this year. 250 bushels at a time, anybody lookin for a custom grain trucker???? LOL.

Russ, I'm a Missourian by birth but consider myself a Kansan at heart.Kansas is my favorite state.I never did figure out why my parents left the central Kansas area in 1947.

Theres still several single axle and 10 wheel grain trucks being used in this area.

I need to live in central Kansas so I can afford to collect old combines. Its starting to cost way too much to haul them all the way to Missouri.LOL

Its a Chevy.A neighbor once had one that was almost a twin to this one.

IH's had the flat top front fenders and were boxier in the front.

Naw it is a Chevy. Looks like that pickup is going to clip the sign post trying to get around him.

I had always heard kansas and iowa was flat as boards when i was growing up. is there anything we were told that was NOT a lie?I drive a truck and got 30 acres on the side. Ive only been as far west as iowa, clarinda but damn it is almost mountainous to me and i have been to virginia and pa. too. some of those hills are pretty good sized!

Tim,
You need to come and look Kansas over sometime. Its a fun state to drive around in,especially on the back roads.Lots of old stuff sitting around.I really like the Kansas Flint Hills region.

I work for JB Pearl and drove a fertilizer truck through the flint hills, on Old Highway 18. Pretty neat. not nearly as boring as when you are going by on I-70.

Hey Blaine, those are great. As an old Kansas boy, I love the scenery of the State. Too many people think Kansas is flat and desolate, but that just is not true.

Tom, Kansas is like a second home to me.I never get tired of driving in it.It has everything but tall mountains.

As a result of a predetermined notion I also thought Kansas was flat. But then a lot of people visualize the Canadian prairies as flat and treeless.

Kansas probably has more rolling ground than flat ground. Some of the flatest ground is in western Kansas. The Flint Hills region has lots of hills.
