Here's a few pics of the 105 last winter before harvesting in 2007. I bought it from a guy in NW MN, in the RRV. It's only done wheat and barley, been shedded basically it's entire life. He had just finished waxing it before I bought it.

I'm confused. A ground drive belt, on a hydro? My 55 doesnt have a drive belt.

The 105 hydro's use a drive belt like the variable speed drive, except that it is a fixed speed. The hydro unit is down below by the transmission.

I know what you're talking about there, the 55 and 95 hydro's have the unit mounted directly to the engine.

My 105 with variable speed this year, it seemed like I was always adjusting the variable speed belts tighter to get them to keep from slipping.

On the positive side, though it's a gas; it had no shortage of power. Mine's got the 362 engine, only the last year had that I believe; before that a gas had the 341. It took a fair amount of gas, but then a diesel engine costs a lot more to buy. The 404 engine is worth quite a bit, lot of the old combine engines were nabbed for 4020's.

Have never had any problems with the ground drive belt slipping, I keep the belt tight and so far no problems. The bad thing about my combine is that it has the 23.1 rice tires on it, and those alone take alot of power just to move them in loose ground, but they sure come in handy when it is muddy like last fall. I spray belt dressing on all the belts twice a day when I am in harvest, so that keeps most of the belts going good. The engine is the 404 and is a good power house for it, the gas I have heard is a bit under powered. Not sure on how much fuel it takes, but it has to be a lot less than the gaser. I have run this combine for 10 years now and has been a good machine, but I only run 175 acres through it each year.

Those 105's are a great old machine, yours really looks nice. I bought one about 10 years ago and now has around 4000 hrs and still goes good. Use it for oats, soybeans and corn. It is a '69 diesel/hydro corn special.

Hi Dave, I'm curious about your 105 diesel hydro. I have another 105 that is diesel hydro. The engine and hydro seems to be in good shape, the rest of the machine is pretty wore out.

I had planned to put the diesel engine and hydro unit in another better 105. Was wondering about your experiences.

How is your machine on fuel? Do you have any problems with the ground drive belts slipping?

I had planned to put the diesel hydro in the 105 pictured, but am thinking on leaving that one as is; as it is so nice. I've located some other 105's, so may do it on one of the others. It seems like there are a lot of nice shedded 105's out there yet.

Thanks, Brad

Looks just like grandpa's, if it went in the shed it was wax on-wax off!! Even the bailers, drills, and planters.

WOW - nice machine! Back when I started farming in the mid 1980's, I was always hoping I would run across a really nice 105 to use in my operation (I had a nice 55 at the time). Never found one but I can appreciate the fact that there are still a few out there being kept up nice for the rest of us to drool over! Keep the pictures coming!
