The original subject was "Re: Minnie questions".

Im still here and wanting to go get that minnie and bring it home, so i can start in on it,
I mean just for a little bit,,,
Id go up, get it, start it, and DRIVE THE THING HOME WITH THE HEADER UP,
I mean it coudnt be THAT BAD TO JUST GO ON BACK ROADS and just take my time and call my girlfriend along the way to tell her im getting there, And just come down the older road's, and get it home here to kansas,
I was thinking if I could get it started,,,
Id just do that ,,, and to heck with trying to haul it down here,
I mean It goes about 14 miles and hour , So It wouldnt be that long to get it here,
I mean sheesh,,,, It would be about 1,500,00 to get it here 600 mile's to ks, And thats one way on a trailer,

A year ago I got a call for a road service call. They said the tire size was 66x4300-25. I was confused because that is a big floater size. They said yes that was right. Seems they bought 2 Big A floaters in northern Illinois and were driving them home to Southwest Kansas. They were making 30 mph and I figured it would have taken them 3 days without the tire problems and a storm that came in. Didn't even have a pickup following along.

I Roaded and L2 gleaner 150 miles one time and It was all I wanted. The machine was new at the time and would travel at least 10 mph faster than your minnie. I also roaded an 8820 about 40miles. It runs about the same speed as your minnie and it was like watching paint dry. So I have 2 suggestions for you.

1) Rent a pickup from enterprise, $150 for 2 days, rent a bobcat trailer $140 for 2 days save about $350 for gas and go get it. Total $640

2)Sell it to me make a little money and find something closer to home

Scott, Did you see my picture below?Model S MM's are one of the hardest to haul combines that you will ever find. You will need at least a 25' gooseneck trailer.

These are wide combines so you need at least (2) 10 ft planks with you. Most of both drive tires will be sitting on the plank on a 102" wide trailer. You keep moving the planks back as you winch it on.

They are so tall that the clean grain elevator has to come off.The reel, sickle, and end of the header all have to come off or take the header completely off and turn it endways..You are still going to be over width.I came home the back roads 200 miles all the way from west of Wichita,KS.

I don't know if Kirk is a young buck or not or if his girlfriend is a country gal but maybe it would be something I would have done many years ago just on a whim with a sweet young lady just like the pioneers. He just needs a cooler and some flashing lights and maybe some camping gear. Sounds cool!

Kirk, The moral of the story is to never buy an old combine thats a long ways from home if you have no way to haul it yourself..Most haulers get $3.00 per loaded mile or more and I quickly found out that most dont want to haul old combines.Tractors are far easier money for the haulers. Heres proof that you can haul an S MM home.I do wish you well on getting your S home.Driving it home at 12-13 mph is going to take about a week and alot of gas.

1206 I like that load! Reminds me of my L UNI with a 9' cut LA combine on the same type trailer and truck.

Hey, why not bring her with ya? At 14mph at road speed not considering turns and towns she's liable to find someone else and have grandkids by the time you get home. LOL :-) I took that from a page of our DI in basic training at mail call when you didn't get a letter from your girlfriend. All kidding aside sounds like fun maybe you could fix a place on the back for a sundeck so she could sun herself on the way.CT
