Well I was bored today, started looking through some pictures and found some from the first field I took off with my combine. Soybeans on my Grandparents place.

I'm in southwest Ohio if I plan on going up that way this summer on our bike I'll give you a ring up on here to see if you might be around for a chat and a glass of tea or a sandwich or both. CT

Cadet Trooper you are dead spot on. The one I have is less than 100 serial numbers from the last one made. In 145-160 corn I run 2.5-3.0mph doing 6 row.

Speaking of speed, we used to have a Deere 443-4 row corn head laying around, and since I have the lower shaft on the feeder house the head fit right on that NH. I put it on to do some custom work for a guy that planted 4 row. The corn was sad maybe 90 bushel per acre at best. I was running along at 5mph because that's all the faster the head would take it. Sure looked cool from the road.

Tell you what HPF, I've ran a couple combines in that high speed mode and it'll kinda wear on ya after awhile ran some late corn in a poorly drained used to be pasture field with an N-6 and eight row head at about 4.5mph the ground kind of rolled I felt like one of those bobblehead dolls with a hand on the hydro "T" and thumb on the lift switch scanning the header like watching a tennis match I probably could have gone faster but the steering on that 6 was pretty crazy probably looked like one of those kids when they jump on a tractor and start playing with the steering wheel. Only had to do that for about three hours felt like twelve. It was the last field of the season it was terribly wet and we had to chase it around the dryer for about two days only made about sixty bushel what a waste. Hey HPF, I forgot to ask you what part of the country are you from?

So far I like the New Holland quite a bit. I know it’s not the perfect combine but it does a better job than the 6600 we had and has more capacity. No real major break downs so far, in the two years we’ve run it (1200 acres) the rotary screen on the radiator broke, the bearings started to go out on the main drive group sheave and the sensor switches on the grain table went bad. I don’t consider that anything major. It has the Cat 3208 on it for power, the only other one in the area was a TR75 with the 363-I6 on it and it was underpowered in my opinion when I ran it. But it’s easy to set up, easy to run. Mine has every option that you could get from the factory, which includes a power rock separator in the feederhouse. Unfortunately this only kicks out the big rocks because I have put one or two smaller ones through it but they don’t seem to hurt anything other than make a lot of noise. Dealers that have those things want the same price for them that they would get for a IH or a Deere of the same age and it just won’t do it. You don’t pay a lot for a NH to get one, but you won’t get anything out of it in the end either.
As for a combine with the separator and engine hours being 30 apart, one of the two is lying.

HPF, nice machine, I've ran a couple including an 85 best bean machine of thier time was a little concerned about rock protection but overall easy to operate a little noisey with that CAT motor but just turned up the radio. CT

That's a nice looking combine. Does it have the Cat 3208 V8 diesel, Ford 363 I-6 diesel, or the Ford 360 V8 gas? How does whatever engine that it's equiped with hold up? Any problems with the engine?

Thanks,
Jason

Nice pictures. How do you like that New Holland? Local dealer has one sitting on the lot, been there for years, has 3 heads with it, asking $10,000. A friend rented it one year and said it was down more than it was up. Guess thats why it still sitting there.

If you are looking for a combine- check out the Gleaner F2 diesel at the Pierz sale, Grittner, March 1. Mid-American Auction. 4RW corn head. However, I would question the hours - with about 1800 hrs on it- the engine hrs and separator hrs are about 30 hrs apart. No way that the two would be that close together! Had more road and idling time than that.

JMS I think after running both the F2 and the TR70 (later version like his) I'd say that it falls more in the category of an M2 I've ran a 70 with a 6 row head in around 145 to 160bpa corn and with the Cat motor and it's busy but does a pretty decent job if setup right can't remember the ground speed but maybe 2.5 or so. I'm thinking hogfarmer has one of the later versions by looking at it maybe 1980 which they made some serious changes to a lot of things.
