Another picture that I ran across. Its an old A-6 Case being pulled by an A or G JD?

We were eating dinner out after church last Sunday in a neighboring town.A couple of old farmers at a table near us were discussing old PT combines with Wisconsin engines on them and mentioned an A-6 Case.It was fun listening to them telling how hard it was to start one of those engines when they were hot.

It's a GM, 1941-1946, as evident by the air stack and muffler being side by side and the pan seat. Should have enough power to lug around any pull type combine. Nice pic!!

Not to pick nits, but it could also be a "G" with a serial number between 23000 and 25999. They were identical to the "GM" in almost all respects, and you couldn't tell the difference from this photograph, which is neat, and thank you, 1206SWMO for posting it.

Thanks to those that identified this as a GM JD.I thought that it was maybe a G.I never was around any G JD's growing up as there were none in my area.

We did have a 1944 B and a 1947 A JD tractors between 1960 and 1967.

In the 1950's Dad pulled our A-6 Case combine with a 1947 8N Ford.

Ole Ande will have a fit when he see's that one. It's more like the one we had ours had a sock on the air cleaner that mom would stich up every season and I noticed that guy left the flywheel screen off just like we used to do after cranking on it forever your arms were so tired you didn't feel like messing with it. If we started much before dinner we would just let it idle through dinner. Nice pic, thanks for sharing, Blaine

That's a "G" Blaine, the muffler & air intake stack are side by side so you could see between them, (excellent for seeing planter mark) unlike the A & B's that were one behind the other

That"s what they were known for. More fun to listen about them than to crank them. Couldn"t pull start like with a tractor. Just had to wait for them to cool. Beer time! Just like years ago when I heard about giving beer to a cranky sow that was farrowing. Mrs. asked "Why are you going out there with three beers?. I said we"ll each have one, and whoever needs the third the worst, that"s who will have that one!
