As most of you know I run numerous want ads to buy old combines. Some ads are free and some cost up to $30 each in the HPJ.Lately I have had at least 4 phone calls cut short on my answering machine.Over the years we have had this happen numerous times.Sometimes its the answering machine and sometimes its the callers cell phone cutting out.I work the evening shift at work 50% of the time so am gone alot and miss most of my calls. The other night a guy left a message about an always shedded early 55 JD that he had just pulled out of a qounset building. He was giving the phone number and got cut off with one digit to go.So now I may have to call (10) different cell phone numbers in the Goodland,KS area to try and reach him. Last night a guy from the Monett,MO area called that has a shedded 40 JD.He didnt leave a name and got cut off with two digits to go so I cant trace him. They very seldom ever call back and probably wonder why you dont return their call. This was the 4th shedded 40 JD that I was offered and none are over 120 miles away. Another guy from Colby,KS called with (2) early 55 JD's for sale. His cell phone cut out on the prefix but I was able to figure it out and just got off the phone with him.He has a 1952 and 1955 model 55 JD's for $250 each. They were used until 10 years ago and have sat out for 6 years. There are more early model 55 JD's out there than you can shake a stick at.I've had at least 10 calls on them. I guess the only answer is to pay the extra $10 per month for caller ID.
