I recently ran a want ad out in Kansas for early 55 JD's and so far have been offered the following.1 Early 55 JD located in SW Nebraska owned by a widow-has sit out-no price.Too far for me. 2 Always shedded 1954 JD 55 last used in 1990.Good original paint and tires.Has used parts with it plus new feeder chain and new platform bottom to be installed.Price $1500 (too high?) in NC Kansas.Knows of a SP-12 Case in his area. 3 1951 JD 55 been shedded since 1977.Last used in 1992.Tires fair,low hours on engine rebuild,paint average.Has Farrar sickle drive that is broken.$750 in SW Kansas. 4 Unshedded 1953 model 55 JD-motor stuck-new feeder chain-rusty-$100.Located in SW Kansas. Has a running 1961-62 105 JD with 18 ft header for $300.Has sit out-tires fair. Has a dandy shedded until 4 years ago late 1950's A Gleaner ready to go to field for $500 OBO. Also has an early Massey-Harris baler for $300.Knows of an always shedded 27 Massey combine.Junked a dandy 21 Massey canvas combine 10 years ago. 5-Always Shedded 1958 JD 55-Bought used in 1968-Nice condition-Located in SE Kansas-Make Offer. I have a hunch that I will end up with one or more of these.
