What year is this? Last i heard i was on my way to Calfornia to pick up an SP-12. I made it there in Feb. but now it"s Jan. Did I go back in time? Where the h""ll have I been? One word Busy!!!! Insanely busy. Quick run down on my life in a year. 1. Go to Cal. Good trip. Combine is huge!!!! 12" front wheel width. 16" head. Holy crapolie my brother says to me with a look of shock on his face. Are you nuts? Somehow, some friends on this site lead me to believe I could haul this dinosaur. Talk about some steel in the beast. After a brief discussion with me brother of say 15 seconds, the hauling idea was nixed. I was really sad but there was no way to do it. Phil the gentleman that owned was the nicest guy you"d ever meet. He really wanted to save it also. He had other old equipment he"d kept hauling home from friends. I think wife finally had enough! The good news is that he found another guy in the area that was going to get it going again. So it didn"t hit the scrapyard. I told Phil to keep the 50 bucks for the combine, but not more than a month ago he sends me a check for 50 bucks. Made a real good friend. 2. Back to arizona to visit parents. Mom not doing good has to have heart surgery. Mainly the reason I went on this quest. Stayed 6 weeks. Mom did fine and is doing great.
3. Got back to Illinois fairly warm compared to when i left.
4. Wife calls from Wright AFB, hey honey we"re moving. Whaaaaatt!!!! Oh yea wife is in airforce,
3 years to retirement, yea!!! Thought we would finish career there but nooo.!! WarnerRobins AFB,
Georgia okay? Uhhhh sssurre honey. One more thing have to be there by September. Nice, I love her soooo much. LOL
5. Spend summer raising 2 acres oats, 2 acres corn, 3 acres alfalfa, 3 acres grass. Raising a batch of 11 baby pigs, 1 third acre garden.
And then the bright idea that the old house needs a new basement. Soo 1 summer and 900 cement blocks
later we have a new basement under my grandfather
house. Oh yea 2 trips to Ga. to find a house for the wife!!
6. Bite the bullet and buy wife"s 6 acre dream horse property. 18 stalls six attached to the house. All field fenced, 6 years old. At least it"s not a fixerupper thank god!!!! Next haul critters, 1 horse, 1 piglet, 9 cats, 5 chickens, 6 rabbits. Honey, I"ll be there in 18 hours yes i still love you!!!!
7.Then the Holidays my favorite time of the year!!!! Don"t know where that time went, seems like I just wokeup from a very long dream.
8. Mom is doing great, wife is extremely happy new baby bunnies and all, cats running free, horse has a huge pasture, pig will die of old age, I"m still working on the basement in IL. Life is good. Seriously WHAT YEAR IS IT ?????

Welcome Back Farmer-Several Have Asked About You in reply to farmer101IL, 01-27-2008 18:35:46
Welcome back.We were all wondering what had happened to you. Thanks for filling us in.Glad to hear that your Mom is doing better and that the wife is happy.

Sorry about the old Case combine in CA..At least it didnt get junked.Since it was a hillside model it must be lots wider than a regular SP-12.I'm sure that it could have been torn down to be hauled but that would have been a huge job.

I'm going to OK when the weather gets better to haul home a free SP-12 Case.

There was a nice 123 IH combine on ebay over the holidays but I didnt bid on it since it was located 2000 miles away between LA and San Francisco.

Havent seen David Manring on here in quite sometime. Are you out there David?

Dont be a stranger.

Dave and I have traded several emails and he's been over to my place to look at stuff - we only live about 30 miles apart.

I noticed he had some stuff on Ebay a while back, but haven't heard from him in a while...

Glad you made it back, we thought the DOT had you locked away. It's to bad you couldn't bring the prize back. Better luck next time.
