I just got off the phone with a nice farmer out in western Kansas. He answered one of my very expensive HPJ want ads.Something interesting is that although he lives 400 miles away,he used to duck hunt with a guy that worked at my plant.I had to tell him that Pat passed away from cancer a couple of years ago. I just bought an all original 1940's model 123 McCormick SP combine sight unseen for $300.He said it has the duals-narrow rear-slide dump grain bin-etc.It has no bullet holes and the sheet metal is decent. He has a decent 112 or 115 Cockshutt SP for $300. He has two Super 92 Masseys in the shed. One has been shedded all its life and the other part of the time but has been in the shed for the past 17 years. They are $600 each and they both go together. Also he has an old Avery pull type with a 20 ft header. He said the junk buyers are coming thru there hot and heavy now and alot of the older stuff is heading to China. This may come to haunt us some day! I hope to get out there in March or April to get the 123 home and will take pictures.Diesel is down to $3.11 here now.I wish it would get under $3.00 before I start hauling old combines home.
