This is my fathers 1963 John Deere 55 combine. Before I bought the C II and ran 2 machines we ran this 55 all day, never stopping, always unloaded on the go, one driver stepped out of the cab and the other stepped in to take over without stopping.

I can tell you never ran a 55 John Deere. I'm not a JD man but a 55 was bullit proof. My father never pushed a combine, didn't want to throw anything out the back. 40 acres at 35 bushels was a good day for us and better than most. We raised a lot of Early Preimium in those days and it made LOTS of straw. The last 3 years we ran just the 55 it never stopped to unload grain, even the last binfull was dumped going out of the field.

40 acres a day was doing good on those machines. I remember the big straw days. Those little machines just couldn't handle it like the big ones. We had a neighbor who liked to plow out alfalfa, put on the regular amount of N and plant Scout wheat. That stuff would be 5 foot tall before it went down.
