Hey 1206, Good picture, I need to get pictures on here, just never get to it.

On the 40, the machine is actually a 40 RB with a SB rear end added to it. The SB would have a bigger unloading auger; that comes out straight from the tank, with an angle a few feet out. The SB also has a different ladder going up to the platorm, safer to keep your shoes out of the drive tire. The clutch and brake pedals are slightly different, and the steering wheel has a slightly different tilt and shroud around it. The clean grain auger also is top driven on the SB.

Just wanted to make you or anyone else interested aware of that. I've got a RB and a SB sitting side by side in the shed; so it's easy to see the differences.

Yesterday I had a productive day in the snow in MN. I located a 55 diesel hydro in pretty good shape, the engine is excellent. We made a deal and it can stay stored until next spring or summer. Then crossed from southern MN to west central MN in the snow to pick up a quicktach feeder house for a 45 combine. My wife thought I was crazy for going out, but it was the only day it would have worked out for those parties. I'd been waiting to get that feeder house since this spring, as it was on an abandoned farm place and the guy lives 3 hours away from there.

Have a great day, Brad

Bradley,we will be awaiting pictures from you.Someone must have creamed the rear of the old 40.I think that I know where a roundback parts 40 is at.

Nice find on the 55 diesel hydro.

Very interesting that you spotted it's not really a square back. I thought the auger and grain bin didn't look right for a square back.

Looks like a nice restoreable piece. I really like seeing your photos and discussion you add to this forum. I may be interested in this JD 40 depending where it is. I will be checking back to see what you find. Hope you are successful.

Nice find, Im giong to look at a 105 this evening with a 6-30 corn and 15' grain head. I have located a RB 40 near me if I can only find the owner. Anyone know where I can find a 42 and a 65 in NC?
