How much of a nightmare would it be to load and haul a 2-row mounted picker that's not mounted on a tractor?

I can get a decent deal on a New Idea 305 2-row, but would have to haul home AND unload the thing without it mounted. Do they come apart enough to make loading easy? Thanks for the help.

I was lucky when i bought my John Deere 227 it had a homemade cart under it so it could be pulled behind my pickup, worked great. When i bought my 2MH it was on a tractor, and my Allis Chalmers picker was small enought i just took it apart and loaded it by hand

When i bought my late lamented picker i had the guy load it with abackhoe. . Dont remember any problems. But i know if i get a decent trailor it will tilt and have a decent winch so i can haul mounted pickers. The last whole one i ever saw was mine and had to cut it up when i moved. Hind sight is 20/20 but forsight is pretty lame!I will either build or buy a deck over with tilt and heavy duty winchand the swing out supports for wide loads.

I trailered a 325 picker several hundred miles a few hears ago. lifted it up with two loaders and drove the trailer under it, one wheel stuck out over the trailer, I blocked up the axle at that point. chain binders around tounge and axle held it in place. only big concern is height of elevator depending on your trailer. I believe the unit was still under 10 feet wide.

I face this problem now and am I am interested in the answers. A friend bought one last spring and he said that dealers back when had two wheel trailers with a long tongue that they used to move them around and deliver them. They would back the trailer under the picker, unhook it from the truck, raise the tongue and hook it up to the picker. Then pull the tongue down and hook it up to the truck. Sounds like something Red Green would do but he said the used them all the time. Haven't found one yet and he just borrowed the John Deere dealer's roll back truck to load it to take it home. I still have one to move.
