I collect combines and this one is beautiful. My "1957" JD-45 does a great job of shelling corn. Also have a JD-40, MH35, IH-203, and two Gleaner K one of which made the 2008 AGCO calendar. This is about harvesting smiles as slow as you can go.

Nice machine 1206 last time I ran one of those was in the late 50's with a two row wide cornhead in down corn in backside potato ground unloading on the go with no cab probably in at least 130bpa corn. Cab with at least a heater would have been nice A/C would be even better now. Don't know if the newer one could handle a 3-30 cornhead or not probably could I don't think it could handle a 4 row head.

Yes,that is a wonderful machine, hopefully someone will buy this and run it yearly in some type of show,or even their own farm, this isnt about yield, its about saving a piece of history.Thank you for the great picture

I wouldn't give $50 for a train load of 45 combines unless all you raise is 20 bushel wheat. Anything smaller than a 95 is worthless with todays yields.

Not true, Tom. While this is really more for a collector, the 60 bpa wheat would only slow it down, but not shell it. If it had a corn head, though, no more than 1-2 rows.

Haven't run a well-adjusted late model 45, have you? No, I wouldn't want to put one in 90-bushel wheat, but like 1206, wouldn't be afraid to put one in 50-bushel wheat. Won't set any speed records, but won't have to set stakes to see it move, either.

Well Tom this is basically a collector combine but I wouldnt be afraid to pull in to a field of 40-60 bushel wheat with a 45 JD.Not that many years ago several neighbors did it all the time and some of them died quite wealthy.Very few 55 JD's were ever sold here as they were too large for the small farms

Now 150 BPA corn might be another story.75 BPA worked a 45 JD hard.

In 1991 a late friend of mine bought a 45 JD about as nice as the one pictured for $600.He cut fescue seed on 50-50 shares and paid for it the first day.He used it for many more years and it made him many 10's of thousands of dollars before he passed away.

And 1206,your friend enjoyed what he was doing. That is the best part, guess that is maybe why I want to so badly to get my "A6" back into the field.I know I will

that sure is pretty. if it had a corn head would be better would be good to combine corn and haul it away with the 730.
