When we combine corn we run an 1980 F2 and a 1968 F and the corn heads we use are two A330's.
My F was not turning the corn head fast enough and it was always plugging up so I went to the AGCO dealer to get the sprocket I needed.
This sprocket is on the left hand side of the combine for the header drive and the item has two sprockets on it one is a 13T the other is a 25T
which is exactly what I needed and it is a very simple part and it only cost....$375!!!!!
That price is insane! Has anyone else bought that same sprocket for that price? If so please share your horror story also.

I had to get the main drive belt (double Vee) this Friday. Had a spare hanging in the shed for 3 years, turns out it is too long, for a new style F2/F3 I guess. I also have a fairly new belt on my parts F, but - that was too short.

Got a tranny drive belt as well, mine is starting to go.

I was pretty surprised when the bill was $270. I was figuring closer to $400 for the pair of belts, based on past belt purchases.

Where are you located, Quicksilver? Combine bone yards are the place to get what you wanted, much savings. Agco sells very few of those sproket sets, people pick them off the old machines. Got a good one here at that dealer.

I think I have a set of the black header sprokets, but - I am considering going to a black head, so would be hard for me to sell them off - knowing what they cost & the search to find them.

I know Allen likely needs a set too. :)

I ran into that main drive belt problem too.

Seems as though someone had just moved the engine mounting bolts back to one of the other sets of holes as the belt stretched.

Now, the new one won't even go on. :>(

I was so mad at myself, wife just left me alone for an hour. To have that belt hang there for 3 years, all prepared.... And then it's all wrong when the chips are down.

On a Friday late afternoon, of course.

Today I was getting the paint sprayer out, (too much rain to combine for a few more days, puddles in the fields) and I see where a plug must go on the sprayer - can't find it with the tip & strainer. Mad at myself for losing that. So I go to town - wife leaves me alone again - and find a cap that might fit, tho not well. Get it on, & look up, & see - oh that is the spot the paint hose attaches to, no cap at all..... .

Sigh. Some days I'm just too dumb to even be a simple dirt farmer.

I'm located just south west of Long Prairie Minnesota. The local junk yard just cleaned everything up now I'll have to go all the way down to Worthington or Mountain Lake.

I thought you were in the area, Mountain Lake has always done well for me.

The, er brain fade, I can't think of the name, Janesville dealer, little town south of Mankato on 14, used to have a bunch of junkers, but they cut back on that to just a few. Worth a call tho if you can't find at the other places.

Smith's Mill, that's the name!

I'm in the triangle right between the Smith's Mill, Mountain Lake, & Redwood Falls dealers. Sux to have the dealers an hour away for a combine, but I do have 3 good ones available....

High parts prices is one of the main reasons that I quit farming this Fall.Case-IH isnt much cheaper than Agco.

Lots of stuff has doubled and even tripled in price the past 2-3 years.

Hi 1206SWM,, Naw!! , You Ain't Quitting ! , Are YOU ?,,, What events prompted that decision ?,,..,without a Doubt there are plenty of reasons to pick from In OUR AREA , Development , family issues ,equipment Woes ,costs and prices . The weather alone is enough ,... In the last 6 years ,Here in southern Indiana 4 of my crop years were drought stricken,,,2006 was a real Dandy .trikle of rain in June ,Hi 90's WITHOUT RAIN in July .. Crops did not come in well, Had to swim to get them ,3rd week end in sept, of 06 we got 15 inches of rain in 18 hours ,rest of fall we were lucky to have 2 days back to back we could harvest ToTal for year was over 60 inches ,We normally get 43 to 45 , And BECAUSE OF THE SUMMER MOTHES I STILL HAD A DROUGHT STRICKEN CROP ! ,, Sometimes I think God is Asleep at the Wheel ...Here on This EARTH , GOD'S WORK is TRULY OUR OWN ., Blessings to You and Yours , Jim

It makes me sad to hear that you're getting out. I'd think what with prices going up that it'd be worth hanging around a few more years, maybe finding a young farmer thats looking for some acreage to help get going... I hate to see one less active operation.

Not to mention that it saddens me to see all your knowledge of combines sitting idle next fall. Buy yourself another early 14 series and run the wheels off of it if the 1420 is stressing you and costing you money. I'd pay top dollar to have a quarter of your knowledge.

Its easy to get out with every one waving around high cash rent, but its much harder to get back in.

Guys,I'll be 59 my next birthday and am starting to feel old and worn out.Plus farming I work rotating shifts at a factory and run on far too little sleep.

My machinery is getting old and worn out too. This has been a costly year for parts. The weather has only been good for 1 out of the past 10 years in this area.

My grain elevator used to be 4 miles away but closed and now is 12 miles away.Hauling is a real headache now.I have no grain bins.

I once had a neighbor that was always going to retire but kept on farming one more year. The week he and his wife were going to finally take off in the Winnebago he dropped dead in the cattle lot while tending to his draft horses.I dont want to end up like him.

I plan to attend more old tractor shows, tractor pulls, farm sales, gather up more old combines, plus work on my old combines, show my combines, and just plain relax.

One of the youngest farmers in the neighborhood has rented the ground.

I know the old G I am parting out has a double sprocket on the left side and it was run in corn. But I don't know the number of teeth or if the shaft size is the same as your F. Won't see it until Thanksgiving so hopefully you won't need it this harvest.

I know the one on you G will be a double 13 tooth sprocket unless you had a A330 black head on it but thanks anyway I did buy the AGCO sprocket but I don't think I will be using it real soon because we just got a lot of rain the most I have ever seen and we haven't been able to get our beans out.

How come a guy couldn't just use that generic hub/gear/weld material that I'm always seeing in the farm store?

Wouldn't that stuff work or is it "soft" iron?

Gettin' kind of tired of bending over and grabbin' my ankles all the time. :>(

I was hoping I had enough cash in my wallet to pay for it because if I did not I thought they were going to tie me up gag me and rough me up in the "BACK ROOM".
But the old sprocket hub is going to the machine shop to have a 25 tooth sprocket welded on so I can put it on the 76 F because I'm not doing that again!

I retired about 5 years ago. About 7 years ago I noticed that parts and labor and my dentist had raised their prices. I have been helping a friend with tractor and machinery repairs and it seems parts are not too bad here in southern NM.
