Got a new Header drive belt for my Gleaner E-III. Took off the old one and installed the new one on the head. Put the head on the combine and the belt is to short. Part # is correct and there was only one belt for the E-III. The K had 3 different sizes for the 13' head. I have tried everything I know. It looks to be a good 6" short. Any secrets to getting this thing on the pulleys? Thanks

It's name in te operators manual is the harvester belt. The parts book calls it the header drive belt. It transfers power from the combine to the header. I will measure it tomorrow. Can't see how it will ever fit the way it is now.

Is it located on the throat of the combine? Your first message sounded like it was out on the end of the header.

I too only know of a short chain driving the header. There is a belt driving that chain tho, is that what it is?

Never saw that kind of setup- only familiar with chain drives between the combine and the header.

I'm confused about which belt you refer to. Header drive belt is normally the belt on the left side of the combine that drives the countershaft which has a chain drive to the header. Do you mean the belt on the left side of the header that drives the auger, or a belt driving a wobble box or pitman? Perhaps someone changed pulleys, so you need to measure the old belt.
