Amazing!!! I can remember my dad with a Gehl one row chopper and a super M on the the belt filling silo in the fall. This is a far cry from that. Ted

Quite the machine isnt it! I wonder what it sells for new?

A neighbor down the road got in the custom chopping business a couple of years ago.He started out with a JD but now has a Claas. He chops for a couple of large dairy farms that moved here from NZ.

They run those harvesting for Kuner up near Greeley, only they run end dump semi's with overload permits to haul. The replacement drivers would have been getting their butts chewed on the CB around here, they made the chopper stop. Be alongside the first truck before he is full, driver of the chopper will flip the spout and blow over the first into the second, first trucker better be shifting for all he's worth to get out of the way, replacement truck swings over behind him... Don't stop the chopper! They don't even give time for a truck to turn at the end. Put it in reverse, back up until you are full.

I'm assuming you're talking Greeley Colo. I was out there the middle of July and I want to go back, loved it. I want to see this think personally. When are they cutting corn silage? Aug. or Sept? I'm guessing the 900 stands for kilowatts which makes it about 1200hp which makes it burn around 60gal. of fuel an hour no wonder they don't want it to stop. Those dump wagons are I'm guessing around 15T and a semi with an overload permit who knows? Awesome! I could spend all day watching it. CT

Yep, Greeley Colorado. I think they start running first part of September. Takes about a week to two weeks to chop all the corn in the area.

I think they are allowed to run up to 90k or 100k on the permits, trucks weigh roughly 35k, so hauling 20-30 tons a shot...

Thanks Chad, we're planning a Wyoming trip in 08 but may sneak down there on the way back to Denver. I'm in Ohio so we don't see much big forage equipment here just not much in the way of Dairy or beef around here. I'm just a forage kind of guy growing up on a dairy farm I could watch choppers by the hours, wife don't see much fun in it though. Thanks again for the info. CT

Yeah they eat a lot, around here the guys who require a lot of silage or those who do custom chopping use them. Blow the stuff into a dump truck or semi dump trailer and haul it away. Talk about being done chopping quick.
