Anyone have any issues with their Dial-a-Speed reel? I have set it by the manual, but it does not seem to recall setting or calibration each time I resart the machine. It periodically stops the reel while engaged, too.

My 9400 had the dial-a-speed feature on the combine, so all I had to do was add a sensor wheel and sensor to the old 220 head and with the help of the local dealer, wired it up to the combine. Yes, it is speed sensitive. When the combine stops moving, the reel stops turning. You can set it so the reel goes a certain percent faster than the ground speed. Works good.

I don't have the dial a speed and can't seem to see a way to add it to my machine. Tom

If your combine does not have this feature, check with your dealer to see if a kit is available to add it.

Soybeaner,
My guess is that the computer board is messing up. We've had nothing but trouble with the electronics on our two 9550's. Seems like they get worse every season. Talk to Deere.

I have dial-a-speed on my '89 9400 with 220 flex head. It works fine; I like it. I added the digital readout kit on the combine and then added the provision to the old 220 head. Yours must have something wrong.

A question for Dean Barker in reply to Dean Barker, 10-02-2007 18:37:17
I noticed you added the required parts for dial a speed is this ground coupled? I would like to do this to my machine just don't know where to start.
Thanks Tom
