Here I go again.

Late model F. Paid $3800 for it with two heads 2 years ago and went thru it to fix all the "difficult" stuff. Cylinder/raddle bearings and fixed that darned air conditioner.

Now, I'm on a mission to make 'er right completely. Gonna put in a new cab kit, new batteries, cylinder bars, concaves and a new clean grain elevator boot.

I can smell a $6K F here when I get done. Oh well, ya can't wear 'em out no matter how hard ya try. They run forever. :>)

Must be expecting the wheat crop to be really good and that $8.00 price to hold.

I have a '69 parts machine. That one kinda wore out. :) Didn't pay to replace chains when the sprockets were wore down, and replacing all of everything on a gas powered combine....

Nice to work on tho, & a lot of the parts cross over to the F2.

Got an itch for an M or L now tho.....

Know what ya mean about the Ms and Ls. Would be nice to have one, but my gawd!

Those things are big! I'll never have enough acres to fill one up. :>)

Yeah, kind of spendy.

Had to haul a tractor home from the shop this morning so I picked up the combine parts while I was in town.

Full set of bars, convcaves, all the attaching bolts and a clean grain boot came to $1803.

Think parts came to more than the tractor's new engine. Last time I did this those combine parts came to right at $736 if I remember right; about 1980 or so. :>(

Can you take the cylinder bars back? I always took the top off of the cylinder housing and got me out a tall stool. ( after really cleaning everything with water). I used a small hard surface rod and welded a bead down each of those little ridges. Always tried to lift the rod right at the end of the weld and give it a little "knob". My dad used to say he could see the weeds leaning into the header after we welded the bars up good. I would get double the use out of a set. I would start at the back of the rod and, depending on how much of the hump was left on the old bar, would weld towards me. If the bars were not too bad I would stop the bead about a half inch after getting over the hump.

Might give it a try. It kills about half a day.
I think they were 3/32" rods.
