Does anyone have experience harvesting fescue with a Gleaner E or K combine? Opinions on cylinder settings, etc?. I always get a buildup of short straw on the top screen in the rear I have to clean out by hand every time I unload.. I am running the cylinder speed fast with clearance at 1/8 inch....

We have used a K and a K2 for fescue harvest for the past 25 years or so. I run the cylinder on the K at 5/16, 900 rpm, chaffer at 3/4, seive at 3/8. Fan is blocked off with sheet metal on both sides. Dry conditions are a must. On a no dew morning 11am is early enough. We windrow and wait 3-7 days until it is dry enough to shatter. There are some stems that get stuck in the chaffer and sieves, but not enough to to clean out more than once a day. I'm now looking for an F2/F3, but good ones are scarce. E-mail is open. Bob
