After arriving in western Kansas Friday afternoon we hooked up with my combine finder. We unhooked the trailer and drove about 60 miles looking at old SP combines.

Here is a very nice 100% original 123 IH SP combine almost totally hidden by trees. My combine man had been on this farm several times before he even noticed this nice old 123 IH.You cant see it until you are 50 ft from it.

It has the gravity dump bin, tricycle rear, dual drive wheels, canvas feed to the feeder chain-etc.

It may not have sat there, even 40 years. It only takes about 25 for most hackberry trees to get as big as the one around the platform. Either way, it will take a chainsaw to rescue that machine. Just get it before the hackberries do. Those saplings also won't stay small forever, either. Hackberry wood is also burn-ready upon cutting--no seasoning required.

The owners werent home but we had permission to look at it.I'll try and get it bought as its a nice one.I'm just dreading cutting the trees and loading it.It could be a one day job.

Most 123's were parked in the early-mid 1960's so its been there a long-long time.

I have another poorer 123 bought out there and may have to leave it sit for awhile waiting for cheaper diesel prices.

This big tree has grown thru the 123 operators platform and will have to be cut down to move it.Its grown around the clutch pedal.

I'd say the combine has sat there for at least 40 years.

Another view of the old 123.Its in real good shape. If I can get it bought it would take at least one day to get the trees out of the way and to load it.

what is that thing behind it? It kind of looks like the funnel of an old silage chopper.

You would never find this 123 while driving by this farm. Its 8 miles straight west from another 123 IH that I have bought out there.

This area of Kansas is a combine collectors heaven as they are everywhere.I have lots more pictures to show you as I get the time.I just wish that they werent so far away.

Can you tell us a bit more specifics on "this area of Kansas"? It would be fun to just travel the area.

All of western Kansas west of Hays-LaCrosse-Kinsley seems to have lots of older combines left. Most are off the beaten path.Lots are hidden in shelter belts.

We saw (5) blue Fords on one farm.Saw a 4296 MM on another, tons of older JD's,IH's,Gleaners,Olivers,Cases, and much-much more.
