Heres my combine hauling outfit hooked on and waiting for the mud to dry up.Its been a wet-snowy-icy winter so the combine hauling has been put on hold.It may be late March or early April before we even get started.

I was going to use my 1974 C-30 Chev Dually to pull my 25' Starlite gooseneck trailer but it just needed too much work to get it ready for long distance trips.

I got lucky and found a nice 1991 Ford F-350 Dually with the 7.3 Diesel and a 5 speed. It was only 30 miles away.It has 154,000 miles on it.All service records came with it and its ready for its 41st oil change. It needs glow plugs, one tire, and some brake work.

I've got to get a winch for my trailer.Hopefully this outfit will get the job done as I have alot of miles ahead of me hauling home old combines. It will also haul my Oliver 1950 to the tractor pulls.

I hope to use it to haul my 91 IH combine to the 2008 Red Power Round Up here in MO.

I got a 89 super duty. 5 speed, 7.3.

I love the pre-powerstoke IDE engine. Powerstrokes are nice when they run but when they quit they are hard to fix and the new ones are really tough. I plan on just rebuilding my old 89 forever. 20 years from now I do not want to be learning how overhaul the ones they build today. The ford clutch is not the greatest, but it is better than a junky ford automatic tranny.

The starter is fun the first time you change it the top bolt is a little hard to get to...

Check your relay before you replace your glow plugs first.

looks like you got a good machine...

I'm not too sure that the tranny in our 00 Powerstroke isn't going out. It just doesn't seem to want to shift between first and second. Thats not good cause I have a bunch of stuff to haul home not to mention all the hay I still need to haul.

You're looking at $4,5000.00 (or more) if it does go; I know from experience. Mine never gave any warning. It was under 100,00 miles so I assumed that it was still ubder warranty. Wrong; the tranny is not covered under the powertrain warranty.

Sorry to burst the "bubble", but my trans shop rebuilt mine complete with torque-converter, $1800, my friend took hers to a Ford dealer, got it back in 1 day, they keep 1 on the shelf, in excess of $4000. I hadda wait on mine for 8 days. Got a warrantee, put on another 60,000 miles, no problem.

one has a clutch and 5 gears, the other has a converter 3 speeds and an overdrive, AUTOMATIC. find another repair shop and most definately a different DEALER.

I know I got the shaft, but I'm a bit of a dummy on some things. A friend told me he could have gotten a rebuilt transmission for me a lot cheaper.
By the way, I just read on the Red Power forum that Navistar and Ford have parted ways on the powerstroke engines.

Hey, dave in Sunray ,I knew you would go to diesel. I have been down working out of Hobbs New Mexico last week. Will probably move down there in the next month or so. Not too many combines there, but a few peanut combines east of there around Seminole Texas. I came to Sunray 11 years ago from Seagraves Texas and now I guess I'm going back(company says so) Will keep an eye out for old harvesters
