I recently won a 123 IH SP parts book on ebay.It arrived today and I have been looking it over. Its dated 3-15-49.

The factory offered a kit to do away with the canvas in the grain platform.Mine out in Kansas still has the canvas although its rotted away.I wonder why they didnt update it?

Also the factory offered a kit to lower the original slide dump grain bin and to add an unloading auger to replace the gravity dump.Mine out in Kansas has been lowered.I'd still like to find a gravity dump bin.

I hope to find a operators manual for my 123.I cant wait to get it home.

One reason for no update may be the difficulty of it even with the offered factory update. I think factory update just means they supply the parts and instructions and the dealer or farmer has to do the work. I helped an uncle do that canvas-to-auger platform conversion on a 122-C (pulltype version of the 123 SP) and it is one tough job, at least it seemed tough to me at age 16. Lots of angle irons to get in alignment and keep them there while welding (means you must be a good welder too, which my uncle was) and sheet metal to align and braze or maybe rivet. (I have forgotten which since it was over 50 years ago) I recall the added auger was very short and getting it in the right place was difficult too.

Hi 1206,I got an early parts manual for mine from the former owner, doesn't show the updates.I saw one on ebay a while back but haven't had time to look lately. Would like to see what the header upgrade looks like.Got two old headers, one is 8' has a belt pickup, looks cut down but if it was it was a clean job. Other 12' but no draper, just an auger. DO you know where the serial # is at? Got mine moved and the running gear out from under the rest of machine and in the shop. Filled cylinders of motor with solvent and wd40 mixed with oil, changed oil and it turns over by hand, so mounted it in frame.Sold the f-14 so have some money to spend on ignition. Took tires off wheels to clean & paint, will remount old tires.Frame and heavy metal looks better than first thought. Thanks for you encouragement.

That clears things up for me... I wasn't aware there was an auger conversion for the 123... and it uses the same tank !?! Pretty cool.

CaseIH dealers might be able to order you a reprint Operator's Manual.
